The Dead Sea Scrolls are a collection of ancient Jewish texts discovered in caves near the Dead Sea in the late 1940s and early 1950s. They contain some of the oldest known surviving copies of biblical texts, as well as other Jewish writings.
"The Dead Sea Scrolls are discussed as the oldest versions of the Old Testament, pushing back previous manuscripts by a thousand years. A listener interested in biblical history or ancient texts might want to learn more about them."
