Spirulina is a biomass of cyanobacteria (Arthrospira platensis and Arthrospira maxima) that can be consumed by humans and animals. It is cultivated worldwide and used as a dietary supplement or whole food, known for its rich content of protein, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Studies have shown that spirulina can have potent effects in reducing rhinitis, which is congestion and inflammation of the nose. Clinical trials in humans have demonstrated that taking two grams of spirulina can lead to significant decreases in nasal obstruction, improved ability to smell, better sleep, and a reduction in inflammatory cytokines, along with a decrease in nasal itching.
The choice I'm referring to is spirulina which is actually a form of algae. There are some really nice studies and some data and also an understanding of the mechanism by which spirulina can have potent effects in reducing what's called rhinitis which is a fancy word for uh congestion of the nose and and inflammation of the nose.
""The speaker introduces spirulina as an "interesting alternative choice" to over-the-counter medications for addressing symptoms like nasal congestion and inflammation when one is feeling ill. They highlight scientific studies demonstrating its effectiveness in humans at a specific dosage (two grams) for improving rhinitis symptoms and reducing inflammatory responses, presenting it as a direct and actionable recommendation for listeners."
